Am I losing track?

It has been a rough past weeks as I got caught up with my full-time internship. Today I came across this video by Matt D'Avella, and felt that the content really resonated.

Check this out!

It's time to take a break and take a step back to gain new perspective and what's really important.

The one concept that really captured me was the balance between productivity and rest. And I believe everyone is in some ways afraid of taking breaks because of the fear, "what if I return to my old self who was lazy and someone who procrastinate and get nothing done?" Guess what? This is exactly how I felt since July started and when we get to go outside.

Shouldn't I be feeling happy to finally meet my friends and have some good time together? But with more work and responsibilities filling up on my internship and an ongoing course PLUS the social time I am setting aside, I honestly am not left with any time for my creative pursuit or leisure. And it got me, I am burning myself out, I am losing that balance and insights on what is truly important to me AND am I spending time on the things that matter to me.

No journey is sustainable without taking time off.

Pushing myself is satisfying and I felt really great to be productive, but I think at the same time, pushing yourself TOO HARD will become counter productive. I am certainly feeling that impact because I was too busy to give focus to anything and I am just jumping on one task to another. It's like I am running on wheels but going nowhere.

So today, I decide to give myself a decent break and take this time writing this blog as a reflection and a reminder to take it slow and steady without compromising on my wellness. In fact, I believe I was too overwhelmed so I did procrastinate a little. Which is why, it is so important for me to realign myself and keep up with wellness habits so that I can regain some motivation and confidence to stick to my daily schedule.

To end this off, I think we all should remind ourselves everyday to take things slow. Be mindful of your day and how much you packed into a day. If you love planning a schedule, "REST" is definitely one thing you should place it in, and really rest. Not the kind you are physically 'relaxing' but your brain is still thinking of what needs to be done for work. I am so guilty of this.

Be present.

Do one thing at a time. If it is rest time, rest properly.

As I've believed, it is possible to get most of the to-do list done, as long as your energy is preserved and your habits don't conflict!

trust in the progress, trust in yourself and enjoy the journey. take breaks please.
